Industrial Relations

Comment - Long and tedious time delays and a need for understanding industrial relations and industry cooperation.

Answer - We will look into organizing a conference for researchers regarding cooperation with the industry.

Comment - Our laboratory cooperates with many parties in the industry. In many cases, joint ventures are significantly delayed in terms of time frame and sometimes are entirely canceled due to the dragging of feet of the Mossad's legal department. The industry is interested, we are curious, and Technion needs more money. The Technion loses quite a bit of money and interesting collaborations just because of the bureaucracy of this department. I want to emphasize that this is not mainly about matters of principle but an extreme lack of communication and understanding of the needs and problems. This problem is transverse around campus.
In many cases, industry no longer attempts to carry out collaborative projects because it is clear that the legal bureaucracy will fail them. Various sources have told me several times that there is bureaucracy in the legal departments of other universities in Israel. Still, at the Technion, the situation is the worst.

Answer - Lately we are examining various alternatives regarding providing legal advice to the different areas under the Technion institution to enable a more efficient service.

Signing Contracts with External Companies and Organizations

Comment - Almost everything goes through the legal department, which is overworked. Our ability to conduct research in collaboration with/for an external body is significantly delayed, and sometimes, we lose contracts, which means a loss of income for the Technion.
