Shuttles Between the Medical faculty and Kiriat HaTechnion

Comment - In the past, the Technion operated regular shuttles traveling between the medical faculty and Kiriat HaTechnion up the mountain. These shuttles contributed to the ease of mobility between the two campuses. To the best of my knowledge, this option is no longer available. I would like to know why.

Answer - About four (4) months ago the Technion tried to execute a shuttling pilot between the two campuses. The scarcity of passengers made it clear that this was not a viable transportation line, therefore at the end of the pilot the Technion decided to finance taxis along the line, and the shuttles were finally ceased.

Shuttles Inside the Campus

Comment - The Technion campus has long been turned into a large and mountainous town, therefore internal mobility - especially during the hot summer months - could present difficulties to mature populations inside the campus, such as those who need to get to the very high Canada building, which is located very steeply up the mountain. In the past, there were constant shuttles to the Canada building. Today there is no organized fashion to get there.

Answer - The Technion has held several negotiations with "Egged" regarding shuttles to and fro the Canada building and there was even a short pilot to examine the shuttle's necessity. The scarcity of passengers made this project obsolete.

Campus Signage

Comment - Many campus buildings lack directions signage. This makes mobility around campus cumbersome, especially when one tries to give directions to visitors from outside the campus.

Answer - The campus signage project has commenced. This project includes posting all directions signage on both the campus roads and on-campus buildings, directing people to the main entrance of the building.

WAZE

Comment - Most of the campus buildings lack a WAZE address.

Answer - We're happy to answer that there are WAZE addresses to almost all of the Technion buildings. You are more than welcome to try: Lady Davis TechnionGrand Water Research Institute , Electrical and Computers engineers, etc.

Building and Renovating New Laboratories

Comment - Renovation of a new lab at the Technion is a highly complex and multi-factorial process, orchestrating the operation of many units, for example: the Safety Unit's guidelines are distributed in an uncoordinated manner with the architectural stage of the lab in progress. This lack of coordination leads to significant delays in the construction progress and therefore in the lab's commissioning.

Answer - A new Technion regulation called "The intake process of a new Principal Investigator" has been completed. This regulation meticulously details the process of renovating and commissioning the new PI's lab. In case one encounters delays while constructing or renovating a new lab, we recommend applying to the faculty's main administrator or the manager of the division of new laboratories: abat.lab@technion.ac.il.
